The Childplay Institute

Believing that every child is a miracle can transform the way we design for children’s care.
When we invite a miracle into our lives we prepare ourselves and the environment around us.
We may set out flowers or special offerings.

We may cleanse ourselves, the space, or our thoughts of everything but the love inside us.
We make it our job to create, with reverence and gratitude, a space that is worthy of a miracle!

Action follows thought.
We can choose to change.
We can choose to design spaces for miracles, not minimums.

EntryAlthough I started this journey as an Architect who designed special spaces for children, it’s become much, much deeper and more personal than that now.

Crazy as it may seem, but as the considerable urging of several important folks in the realm of educating young children I decided to take the next step and put some of my money, lots of my time and considerable energy into starting my own Preschool and what I hope will become a national training center and outdoor adventure program.

All three parts are being organized under a single entity and non-profit, The Childplay Institute, for which we have applied for 501(c)3 status.

SiteAnita Rui Olds, who has been a significant influence on many of us writes in the quote above that “children are miracles” and challenges us to create spaces that are worthy of that idea.

That quite simply is my plan with this new venture, to make spaces where miracles happen for these wonderful and special children of ours.

Currently we are in final negotiations for the lease of a wonderful spot for the new center here in Vallejo, California where I live and operate PR&P Architects: Childplay from.

The site is a heavily wooded parcel that is surrounded by thousands of acres of nature preserve space.

The goal of the new preschool is to be a demonstration center for the early childhood education field.
